For this week’s Switch Kickstarter Project of the Week, we will be looking at Burgos Games’ Neko Ghost, Jump!. The game is slated to release in January 2021 on PC, Linux, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch.

Here’s the overview:

In Neko Ghost, Jump! you can switch between 2D & 3D camera perspectives at any time!  You will use this primarily to solve puzzles as well as to find weak points in certain enemies.

Another gameplay feature is the ability to switch to your ghost form. You use this primarily for combat purposes, but also there are hidden items and puzzles that will require the ghost form.

With leaderboards in every level, those with a competitive itch may find solace in knowing this isn’t just any “casual” game. Not only that but with cross-platform support you’ll be competing against the whole world no matter which version you play.

Those coins you collect aren’t just for show either. You can use them to customize your character with hundreds of customization combinations (many more to come, some may even be created by you!)

Each biome will have its own unique boss encounter where you have to utilize everything you’ve learned in the game at the time to defeat the boss.

Since Super Paper Mario released on Wii back in 2007, I cannot recall another game that had mechanics which actively had you switching between 2D and 3D on a whim. Neko Ghost, Jump! seems to want to recreate a lot of what made Super Paper Mario a beloved classic on Wii, despite its drastic departure from the turn-based RPG formula.

Neko Ghost, Jump! requires US$15,000 and it is currently sitting at US$8,747 after 298 backers with only five days still remaining. If you’d like to support the development of this game to help it come to Nintendo Switch, click the link below to visit the Kickstarter page.
