So you’ve been playing Two Point Museum, and you’ve had a lot of fun in the various themed museums the game contains – you've curated history exhibits, spooky exhibits, science exhibits and even strange fantasy exhibits. But what if those exhibits were… alive? And maybe they were wild animals? That you had to look after and people could walk around and look at. I think there’s even a word for that. Well, that’s where the latest DLC comes in – it's time to make a Zooseum!

The Good

Yes, the latest DLC for Two Point Museum (available on the Switch 2) is ‘Two Point Zoo’ in everything but name. Zooseum is the largest and most fleshed-out of the various DLCs released to date (and is priced accordingly). Rather than simply the new maps/items/cosmetics of the other DLC, Zooseum builds on the basics of Two Point Museum, adding whole new mechanics, gameplay elements and objectives.

Because you are no longer just running a museum, you’re running a sanctuary dedicated to restoring the wildlife-y balance of the world. You still capture animals on expeditions, but only to cure them, pamper them, exhibit them, and, when they’re ready, release them back to the wild. The game keeps track of the biodiversity of the region – increased by releasing more and more rare animals, which gives a nice extra incentive to keep mixing up your game.

The animal nature of your exhibits impacts you in other ways too. They are a bit more fussy than their fossilised counterparts, with individual needs and preferences in terms of habitat and food, and will act depending on the company they keep (animals in the same habitat could breed young or perhaps eat each other). Researching and building exhibit knowledge is given a facelift too – your usual method of taking apart exhibits is (understandably) frowned upon when the exhibits are cute animals, so you instead learn by doctoring and pampering the animals in a delightful little spa. As you would expect, all this is packaged in the silly and pun-filled style of the Two Point world, which remains a delight to spend time in.

TL;DR

  • New mechanics add to core game
  • Same Two Point style and charm

The Bad

As a piece of DLC itself, I don’t have anything bad to say about Zooseum. If you enjoyed Two Point Museum this is more of the same.

However, what should be noted is that this is more of the same in every way, so all those annoyances I mentioned in my review of the whole game remain in place. Most gallingly, the lag on button presses when your museum gets bigger and busier is still a disappointing annoyance in the Switch 2 version.

TL;DR

  • All the same technical annoyances as the main game

Final Score: 8/10

The Zooseum DLC is an excellent addition to the base Two Point Museum game. The same silly fun with some excellent new mechanical additions; it’s a great reason to pick up Two Point Museum again and dive back in.
