Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom - Legendary Gems Guide

This guide covers the locations and tactics on all of the Legendary Gems in Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. So, let’s get to it…

Crystal Caves

#1

You can come across this Legendary Gem as you are making your way to Deadwood Grave, and you’ll find it next to this frame…

Transform into the pig, jump and throw a bomb at the two blocks in the left wall…

Inside there is a chest with a Legendary Gem inside!

Deadwood Grave

#1

As soon as you’re about to enter Deadwood Graveyard, you can fly upwards to grab a Legendary Gem from this frame…

The Volcano

#1

Head to this frame and dash right until you find the chest above.

Dash all the way to the right until you get to the chest that’s up above. Make sure you get up there quickly as if the fireball lights the torch, it will close the door or even squash you (yes, I died here. But it was all for your sake, I swear).

But when you don’t get squashed, open up the chest and in there will be a Legendary Gem. Dash your way right into the button to get out.

Straightaway, dash into the block so that it falls onto the shooting lava, ground-pound it down as far as it will go and dash into it from the left so it falls onto the other shooting lava.

Now that the block is up the top, head up there and dash into it from the left. Make some ice blocks so you can safely go underneath the lava waterfall and then dash into the block again so that it is on top of the button, allowing for the door to remain open.

Now head back down, repeat the first two steps and transform in the pig in order to blow up the block with a bomb. Also remember to dash into those breakable blocks just above it.

Now repeat the process from the beginning once more but instead, dash into the block when it is halfway up the second shooting lava so that it’ll slide onto the other side…

Quickly make your way over, dash and bash into the block again so that it stops the next bit of shooting lava and open the chest.

#3

For this Legendary Gem, you’ll need to be in the Main Room of The Volcano where the big stone tablet is. Up above, there is a cloud where you can sniff out a magic chest. You just need to blast it with 15 wind spells.

#4

This one is easy! Simply head to this frame…

In this spot where there is a cloud, transform into the pig and sniff out a chest that contains, you guessed it, a Legendary Gem!

#5

Head to this frame…

In the frame to the right, use your Ice Sword to freeze the fireballs falling down. And up the top there waiting for you is a Legendary Gem.

Haunted Manor

#1

For the Legendary Gem in Haunted Manor, you’re going to need to have already obtained the Dragon Talisman.

Head to this section at the far left first, put the funnel thing so that it is facing at the bottom square (you can change this by ground-pounding on the button). Then fire your flamethrower ability to break open a secret entrance.

Now move the funnel thing up to the top. Use your flamethrower ability to light the bat lantern in order to create a portal. Enter the portal and go through the bottom entrance that you have just uncovered. Possess the chandelier and bring it all the way to down to open the gate that’s guarding the chest. Now open it and there is another one of the Legendary Gems!

#2

The next Legendary Gem in the Haunted Manor is one screen east of here…

Head to the top-left corner and ground-pound on the button. Then head down, to the right and through the portal…

Head up through the plank and possess the spiked ball…

Roll to the left, go up the little elevator, keep rolling and do a little jump over the gap and break the block.

Don’t worry about putting the fan down, you don’t need to do that.

And in that chest is hiding the second Legendary Gems of Haunted Manor.

#3

This one tackles the snake hole that is blocked from the other side by a block. So first, we’ll want to head to this frame where the bathtub is…

Transform into the snake and go down the drain…

You’ll now be on the other side, so transform into the frog and head into the water. There are some ghosts down here that will suck out your life if you go within the circle around them, but you can kill them just like any other ghost.

Go all the way through to the other side and there is a Legendary Gem in a chest just waiting for you!

Castle of Lupia

#1

In the frame with the big stone square, the Legendary Gem is in the bottom-right corner. You want to rotate the square 180 degrees by transforming into the frog and using the tongue on the + in the middle.

Go down to the bottom-right corner and open the chest to grab the Legendary Gem.

Castle Prison

#1

In Castle Prison, head to this frame and proceed through the entrance-way left…

By timing it right as the lion, updash through the blocks so that the apparently deaf penguins don’t see you.

Then transform into the dragon and make your way to the bottom-left corner.

Transform into the pig and sniff out the cloud to reveal a chest that has a Legendary Gem inside.

The Dark Realm

#1

To grab this Legendary Gem, you will need to have regained the ability to transform into the dragon. Once you’ve done that, fly past the opening up the top to the top-right opening…

Once you get onto the platform on the right, transform into the human form. Here, there will be a whole lot of laser beams, so you’ll need to dash through them all. Once you get up to this part, you’re going to have to dash right and then dash downwards in one smooth motion.

Once you get to the bottom-right corner, that’s when the tricky part begins. You’re going to have to wait for the opening when the lasers go behind the blocks. You’ll also get plenty of practice dashing diagonally. With the last challenge up the top when the laser is behind the rock on the right, dash up-left, jump and then dash to your right past the moving laser.

Once you’re up on solid ground, dash through the last laser and collect your Legendary Gem…
